Red sky and sunstar over New Zealand alpine tussocks from Pouakai Ridge at sunrise – Mt Egmont National Park.
Welcome to Wednesday and August (WTF???).
A little respite from South Island scenery this week, this image was made from the Pouakai Ridge on the Northern flank of Mt Taranaki. Sarah & I hiked up in the dark on the previous evening – fortunately the sun broke through, as it would have been a lot of effort for a photo of fog & mist shrouded tusssocks….

Welcome to another Wednesday morning and today’s FREE!!! iPad Wallpaper (are 3 exclamation marks enough???!!!)
July is rapidly evaporating – I must admit that I’m looking forward to a respite from all the fog and frost we have been getting down here though, roll on August…..
This image was made by my lovely and talented wife, Sarah. It has just been featured as a double page spread New Zealand Geographic’s latest publication – Southern Exposure – which is well worth purchasing if you are a fan of New Zealand imagery (not just landscape photos either).

This is the photo from yesterday’s D800e Landscape Dynamic Range Test. This is one of my favourite local morning photography spots – I have no problem with re-shooting similar compositions under varying lighting conditions – I find it interesting actually.
